Candidates have to pay a combined fee comprising the Board examination fee and the Police Department examination fee, in addition to the MPOnline portal charge.

Vacancy Details

The 7500 Constable (GD) vacancies are divided into two categories based on the unit of posting. Male candidates can apply for both categories, while female candidates can apply only for the second category.

Age Limit (As on 6 October 2026)

The minimum age for all categories is 18 years. Age relaxation is available only to permanent residents (domicile) of Madhya Pradesh, and no relaxation of any kind will be given in any other case.

Pay Scale

Selected Constable (GD) candidates will draw a pay scale of Rs 19,500 to Rs 62,000. As per the general administration department's order, newly appointed employees will receive a stipend of 70 percent of the minimum pay in the first year, 80 percent in the second year and 90 percent in the third year, apart from other allowances admissible from time to time.

Selection Process

The recruitment is conducted in two stages:

• First Stage: Online written examination conducted by MPESB in Hindi, consisting of objective type (MCQ) questions.
• Second Stage: Physical Efficiency Test and document verification conducted by the Police Department. Candidates equal to seven times the advertised vertical category vacancies are called for this stage based on the first stage cut-off percentile.

The final merit list is prepared by combining the normalised score of the written exam with the marks obtained in the Physical Efficiency Test. Candidates must secure at least 30 percent marks (30 out of 100) in the Physical Efficiency Test to be considered for final selection.

Exam Pattern

The written exam consists of a single objective type paper of 100 marks and 2 hours duration, at the level of Class 8 of the MP Madhyamik Shiksha Mandal.

Each correct answer carries 1 mark. There is no negative marking for unattempted or incorrect answers.

Physical Standards

Minimum height and chest measurements (applicable to male candidates only) are prescribed separately for the Special Armed Force cadre and for other cadres, and vary further by category. Physical Efficiency Test

The Physical Efficiency Test carries a maximum of 100 marks and is based on a 800 metre race, long jump and shot put, with separate scoring scales for men and women. One attempt is given for the 800 metre race, and three attempts each are given for long jump and shot put. The detailed marks distribution table is published in Schedule 1 of the official rulebook.

Medical Standards

A district medical board examines candidates on height, chest expansion (for men), vision, knock-knee and flat foot condition, and overall physical fitness. Candidates need a vision of at least 6/9 in one eye and 6/12 in the other, without glasses, and must be able to distinguish primary colours.

• The provisional eligibility of candidates in the computer-based exam is subject to verification of original documents at the physical efficiency test stage.
• A waiting list of 15 percent of the advertised posts will be prepared and will remain valid for one year or until the next exam result is declared, whichever is earlier.
• Eligible candidates must have a live registration with the Madhya Pradesh State Employment Office.
