MECON asks candidates not to leave the application for the last day. It also asks applicants to read the instructions in the advertisement fully before making any entry or selecting any option in the form.
Who This Recruitment Is Meant For
The most important thing to understand about this notice is the kind of candidate it wants. MECON is recruiting experienced professionals in the regular scale of pay, so a degree alone will not make you eligible. You need the minimum post qualification experience for the grade, and that experience must come from the right kind of employer.
Which Employers Count
The experience must be as a regular employee of a CPSE or of a large private sector organisation, institution or company of repute. MECON defines a large private sector organisation as one with an annual turnover of more than Rs. 2,000 crore. A candidate is considered eligible if the company crossed that turnover in any one of the last three financial years (2023-24, 2024-25 and 2025-26). The notice also says preference will be given to candidates from listed companies.
Proof of Turnover
If you work in a private company, you must back up the turnover claim with one of the following documents for the relevant financial year:
- Published or audited annual report clearly showing the turnover
- Published or audited Profit and Loss statement
- Report from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs showing the turnover
- Turnover certificate issued by the organisation on its letterhead
MECON reserves the right to verify these documents and the turnover through its own sources. Only Indian nationals can apply.
Vacancy Details and Post Codes
The notice has 50 post codes. Each grade has ten post codes, one for every discipline. The vacancy figures are given by grade group and not by discipline, so the notice does not tell us how many seats exist for Civil, Law or any other single stream.
| Post Name | Grade | Post Codes | Number of Posts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Assistant Manager | E-1 | 01 to 10 | 80 (combined for E-1 to E-3) |

| Manager | E-3 | 21 to 30 | |
| Senior Manager | E-4 | 31 to 40 | 30 |
| Assistant General Manager | E-5 | 41 to 50 | 01 |
Reservation for SC, ST, OBC (NCL), EWS and PwD candidates (40 percent disability or above) will follow Government of India guidelines. PwD reservation is on a horizontal basis. If the total number of posts goes up or down, the reserved posts will change accordingly. A category-wise breakup is not given in the notice.

Educational Qualification
The qualification is checked as on 01.09.2026 and depends on the discipline.
| Discipline | Minimum Qualification |
|---|---|
| Civil, Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics, Instrumentation, Ceramic, Chemical, Mining, Metallurgy/Minerals and Metallurgy | Degree in the respective Engineering discipline |
| Human Resources | PG Degree, or 2 year PG Diploma, or MBA, or MSW, or MA with specialization in HRM, Personnel Management, IR, Labour Management, Organizational Development, HRD, Labour Welfare or equivalent |
| Law | Degree in Law (BL/LLB or equivalent) or 5 year integrated Bachelor of Law |
Marks and Mode of Study
- For post codes 01 to 30, UR, EWS and OBC (NCL) candidates need at least 60 percent aggregate marks in the required qualification. SC, ST and PwD candidates get a 10 percent relaxation, so their minimum is 50 percent.
- For post codes 31 to 50, the candidate only needs to have passed the prescribed qualification and hold the pass certificate. No minimum percentage is mentioned.
- Percentages are calculated on the aggregate of all years, semesters or trimesters. Rounding off is not accepted, so 59.99 percent will not count as 60 percent.
- If the university gives only grades, candidates must state the equivalent percentage and submit a grade to percentage conversion document. Unless the university prescribes a method, a 6.0 on a 10 point scale is treated as 60 percent.
- Engineering and Law degrees must be from regular or full time study. For the HR discipline, regular, full time or open and distance learning from a UGC recognised university is accepted.
- The qualification must come from a university or institute recognised by the Government or accredited by bodies such as UGC, AICTE, MCI, ICAI or ICSI. For MBA or PGDM, proof of specialization from the university or institute is required, and in case of dual specialization one subject must match the required qualification.
In any dispute about whether a qualification is acceptable, the decision of the Chairman and Managing Director of MECON Limited is final and binding.
Work Experience Required
| Grade | Minimum Experience After Qualification |
|---|---|
| E-1 (Assistant Manager) | 2 years |
| E-2 (Deputy Manager) | 5 years |
| E-3 (Manager) | 9 years |
| E-4 (Senior Manager) | 13 years |
| E-5 (Assistant General Manager) | 17 years |
The type of experience depends on the discipline. For the engineering post codes (01 to 08, 11 to 18, 21 to 28, 31 to 38 and 41 to 48), the experience must be in design and engineering, project execution in industry, or inspection and quality control. For the HR post codes (09, 19, 29, 39 and 49), it must be in handling the entire gamut of HR and IR functions. For the Law post codes (10, 20, 30, 40 and 50), it must be in handling legal matters.
What Will Be Counted
- Full time regular employment in a CPSE or a qualifying large private company, in the relevant area for the post.
- On-the-job training as Management Trainee, Executive Trainee or Graduate Trainee, but only in PSUs.
- Apprenticeship under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961, if the candidate produces certificates from both the statutory body and the training organisation.
- For intermittent jobs, only the actual days of full time work are counted.
What Will Not Be Counted
- Freelance work and entrepreneurial experience
- Articleship, internship and academic project work
- Teaching and research experience
- Industrial or vocational training done as part of a course curriculum
- Self-declarations about the nature of jobs or areas of experience
Age Limit and Relaxation
The upper age limit for all five grades is 50 years as on 01.09.2026. Relaxation in the upper age limit is given as follows:
- SC and ST: 5 years
- OBC (NCL): 3 years
- Persons with Disabilities: 10 years for General (UR), 13 years for OBC (NCL) and 15 years for ST
- Candidates domiciled in Jammu and Kashmir between 01.01.1980 and 31.12.1989: 5 years
- Ex-Servicemen: as per Government of India guidelines
Whatever the relaxation, the maximum age of the applicant on the cut off date cannot go beyond 52 years. The notice lists PwD relaxation only for UR, OBC (NCL) and ST, so SC candidates with disability should check the official notification before applying.
Application Fee
UR, EWS and OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates must pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 1,000. SC, ST, PwD, Ex-Servicemen and internal candidates are exempted. The fee has to be paid online through the MECON payment gateway, using the Proceed for online payment link inside the application form. No other mode of payment is accepted.
Applications with no fee or a short fee will be rejected, and the fee will not be refunded under any circumstances. Since the fee is lost even if you turn out to be ineligible, check every criterion before you pay.
Selection Process
There is no written test in this recruitment. Selection is by personal interview of provisionally shortlisted candidates, although MECON may change the mode of selection if required. Shortlisting is done on or before the interview date, based on scrutiny of the information, declarations and documents you submit with the online form. In practice, an incomplete or weakly documented application can be filtered out before the interview stage.
The list of candidates called for interview, with date, time and venue, will be uploaded on the MECON website and sent to shortlisted candidates on their registered e-mail IDs. The final list of selected candidates will also be uploaded on the website, and reporting date, required documents and medical examination details will be sent by e-mail only. Candidates who are not shortlisted or not selected will not be informed individually.
Travelling Allowance for Interview
Outstation candidates who appear for the interview are reimbursed travel cost, subject to receipt, ticket or boarding pass. Rail fare is calculated at the regular fare, not Tatkal or premium Tatkal. Internal candidates are governed by company service rules.
| Grade | Travelling Allowance |
|---|---|
| E-1 to E-3 | III Tier A/C (3A) or CC by rail, or Rs. 7 per km by road or actual, whichever is less |
| E-4 to E-5 | II Tier A/C (2A), III Tier A/C (3A) or CC by rail, or Rs. 7 per km by road or actual, whichever is less |
To claim TA, candidates must submit a filled TA form with tickets for both onward and return journeys, their bank account number and the IFSC code of the branch. If any claim in the application is found unsubstantiated at the interview scrutiny, the candidate will not be allowed to appear and no TA will be paid.
Posting and Medical Examination
Selected candidates can be posted at any project, location or office of the company, so only those willing to work anywhere in India should apply. Before appointment, each selected candidate must be found medically fit by the Medical Board of the Company's Hospital (Ispat Hospital, Shyamali, Ranchi), and the Board's decision is final and binding.
How to Apply
Applications are accepted through the online mode only. The form is available on the MECON website under Careers and then Career Opportunities, and no other mode of submission is allowed. Follow these steps:
- Read the full notification (Ref. Adv. No: 2026/Reg/07) and confirm that your qualification, post qualification experience, age and type of employer match the post code you want.
- Keep your documents ready: a recent passport size colour photograph and a scan of your signature in jpg or jpeg format (each not more than 40 KB), plus self-attested PDF copies of your age proof, degree certificates, mark sheets, experience proof, PAN card and Aadhaar card.
- If you have more than one document to upload, merge them into a single PDF file not exceeding 1 MB, and make sure every page is legible and not encrypted.
- Open the MECON website, go to Careers, then Career Opportunities, and use the online application link once the form is live from 30.09.2026.
- Fill in the online form carefully, select the correct post code and category, and upload your photograph, signature and documents.
- If you belong to UR, EWS or OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), pay the Rs. 1,000 fee through the payment gateway link provided in the form; SC, ST, PwD, Ex-Servicemen and internal candidates skip this step.
- Submit the form on or before 29.10.2026 and keep a copy of the submitted application, because a hard copy of the online application has to be produced at the interview if you are called.
- If you are employed in a Central or State Government body, Public Sector Enterprise or autonomous body, either forward the hard copy of your online application through your present employer to GM I/c (HR), Recruitment Section, HR Department, MECON Limited, Doranda, Ranchi, Jharkhand - 834002, or carry a No Objection Certificate to the interview.
Documents to Upload

- Matriculation or secondary board certificate, mark sheet or municipal birth certificate as age proof
- Final or provisional certificate for graduation and post graduation, as applicable

All documents must be self-attested PDFs. Aadhaar is mandatory, and if the Aadhaar number typed in the form does not match the uploaded card, the application will be rejected summarily. Illegible or encrypted scans can also lead to rejection. Certificates issued in a language other than English or Hindi need a self-certified translation.
Category Certificate Rules
- OBC (NCL) candidates must submit a certificate in the Government of India format issued on or after 02.09.2025. If it is not available, an older certificate can be uploaded with the application, and the new one must be shown at the interview or before joining. OBC candidates in the creamy layer must apply as UR, and a category once filled cannot be changed.
- EWS candidates must upload a self-attested copy of a valid income and asset certificate issued as per the DoPT office memorandum dated 31.01.2019.
- PwD candidates must upload a certificate in the prescribed Government of India format. Ex-Servicemen must upload the discharge or service certificate.
- The prescribed formats are available for download on the MECON website under Careers and then Career Opportunities.
Candidates Already in Government Service
If you are employed in a Central or State Government department, Public Sector Enterprise or autonomous body, you have two options. You can forward your application through proper channel, which means completing the online application and sending the hard copy through your present employer to the HR Recruitment Section at the MECON address in Doranda, Ranchi. Or you can produce a No Objection Certificate from your employer at the interview.
Going without an NOC does not stop you from appearing in the interview. However, such candidates will not get the benefit of transfer from one CPSE to another and must submit a proper release or experience certificate before joining.
Points Every Applicant Should Note
- No changes are allowed after the online form is submitted, and any mismatch between the form and the original documents can lead to rejection.
- Giving wrong or false information leads to disqualification, and an offer of appointment can be cancelled at any stage if the candidate is found ineligible.
- Bring all original certificates to the interview. A hard copy of the online application is also needed at that time, but no hard copies of documents are to be sent before.
- Canvassing in any form disqualifies the candidature.
- Use an e-mail ID and mobile number that you will keep active for at least one year. They cannot be changed later, and MECON is not responsible for mails lost due to a wrong ID.
- Any corrigendum or amendment will appear only on the MECON website, so check it regularly. Do not respond to unofficial advertisements in newspapers.
- Submitting an application or meeting the criteria gives no right to employment. MECON may raise the eligibility standards, increase, decrease or leave posts unfilled, or cancel the process without assigning reasons.
- Any dispute falls under the jurisdiction of Ranchi, Jharkhand, and the decision of the Chairman and Managing Director is final.
