Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Candidate must have passed Matriculation (Class 10) examination with minimum 50% marks in aggregate.
  • The board must be recognised by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
  • Candidates awarded grades in the matriculation certificate must convert them into marks using the officially approved formula of the respective board and upload a copy of the same.

  • Candidate must have proficiency and aptitude for music with accuracy in tempo, pitch, and singing one complete song.
  • Practical skill on any instrument of Indian or foreign origin is required — including proficiency in tuning, matching unknown notes, prepared piece, sight reading, scale/raaga/taala performance, and basic theory.
  • Instruments eligible include: Keyboard, String, Wind instruments, or any other instrument of Indian or foreign origin.
  • Candidates performing on indefinite pitch instruments (Jazz Drum set, Bass Drum, Snare Drums, Side Drums, Cymbals) or non-chromatic instruments (bugle) or monotone instruments are NOT eligible.

Musical Experience Certificate

  • Candidates performing Hindustani or Carnatic Classical music on wind instruments must submit a certificate from any recognised musical institute or organisation of repute.
  • Candidates performing western notation or western music on wind instruments must hold a minimum initial grade certificate from international boards such as Trinity College of Music (London) or Royal School of Music (London).
  • Other candidates must submit certificates of participation or awards from various events.
