Indian Coast Guard Online Form 2026 for Navik (GD), Navik (DB), Yantrik and Hygienist-I

Indian Coast Guard Navik, Yantrik and Hygienist Online Form 2026

The Indian Coast Guard Online Form 2026 is open for Enrolled Persons through the Coast Guard Enrolled Persons Test (CGEPT), covering Batches 01/2027 and 02/2027. The sections below explain what each of these means for you, so you can decide quickly whether this recruitment suits you and how to apply without making an avoidable mistake.

How the Zone System Works for Navik (GD) Male

Vacancies for male Navik (General Duty) candidates are spread across five zones, and a separate merit list is prepared for each zone. Your zone is decided by your domicile certificate, which is why male Navik (GD) applicants must upload one at the time of applying.

  • North: Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh
  • West: Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Goa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu
  • East: West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Sikkim, Odisha
  • South: Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Karnataka, Lakshadweep
  • Central: Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar

If a zone has no vacancy reserved for your SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer) or EWS category, you may apply as an unreserved candidate. In that case you will not get age concession, relaxation in passing marks, fee exemption or travel fare reimbursement. Recruitment for Navik (GD) female, Yantrik, Navik (DB) and Hygienist-I is on an all India basis.

Eligibility Criteria

Indian citizens, both men and women as per the post, who meet the educational and age conditions can apply. Qualifications must be from boards recognized by the Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE) or the relevant authority named below. Candidates from open school institutes not recognized by AICTE or COBSE are not eligible. The Indian Coast Guard is an armed force, and persons with any kind of disability are not eligible to apply.

Post Educational Qualification
Navik (General Duty) Class 12 passed with Maths and Physics from a COBSE recognized board
Navik (Domestic Branch) Class 10 passed from a COBSE recognized board
Hygienist-I Matriculation, or Industrial Training Institute (ITI), or equivalent from a board recognized by the Central or State Government
Yantrik Class 10 plus a 3 or 4 year AICTE approved diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics or Telecommunication (Radio or Power) Engineering, or Class 10 and Class 12 plus a 2 or 3 year AICTE approved diploma in the same branches

Equivalent Diplomas Accepted for Yantrik

The notification lists the following diploma titles as equivalent for each Yantrik branch.

Two points on marks and certificates deserve attention. First, you must enter the marks of every subject exactly as printed in your marksheet, because incorrect or incomplete marks lead to cancellation of candidature. Second, a Yantrik candidate who does not yet hold the original diploma certificate must bring and upload a provisional certificate signed by the college or university head during Stage-II, and must produce the original diploma at Stage-III or the candidature is cancelled.

Age Limit

Age is defined through date of birth ranges, and the range differs by post and batch.

Selection Process

Selection rests on four stages, and qualifying in every stage is compulsory. Candidates must also meet the medical standards and fit within the vacancies of their batch. At every stage your identity is checked against the live image captured during registration, your biometric (left thumb at Stage-I, right thumb only if the left cannot be captured), your uploaded signature and the identification mark mentioned in your application. Failing even one of these checks at any stage leads to cancellation of candidature. Mehndi or wax on the fingers that prevents a fingerprint from being captured can stop you from appearing in the examination.

Stage-I: Computer Based Examination

  • 100 objective multiple choice questions of one mark each
  • Duration of one hour, with the paper in Hindi and English
  • No negative marking for wrong answers
  • Passing marks: 40 for UR, EWS and OBC; 35 for SC and ST
  • If the exam runs in multiple shifts, marks are normalised and used for final merit and cut-offs
  • Results are uploaded on the candidate dashboard

At the Stage-I centre, bring your original identity proof (Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, Driving License or Passport) as uploaded in the application, one printout of the e-admit card, and two passport size colour photographs. A black and white admit card printout is accepted if the photograph, QR codes and details are clearly legible. The detailed syllabus is available on the portal.

Stage-II: Recruitment Centre Process

Based on Stage-I performance and the handling capacity of Coast Guard recruitment centres, candidates are shortlisted for Stage-II, which lasts 1 to 2 days and is held together for both batches. To download the e-admit card, shortlisted candidates must upload the additional documents and choose a preferred date and centre within the given time. Dates and centres are allotted on a first come first serve basis, and missing the deadline cancels the candidature. Stage-II includes the following qualifying steps:

  • Identity and biometric verification at the entrance gate
  • Physical Fitness Test (PFT), taken at your own risk
  • Assessment and Adaptability Test, an online or OMR based qualifying test whose result is announced at the venue
  • Document verification, with a Pass or Fail declared
  • Recruitment medical examination

Physical Fitness Test Standards

Gender 1.6 Km Run Squats (Uthak-Baithak) Push-ups Bent Knee Sit-ups
Male 6 min 30 sec 20 15 15
Female 8 min 15 10 10

All four tests are carried out back to back without a break, and any break counts as failure in the PFT. Candidates should carry sports wear such as shoes, a T-shirt and trousers.

How Merit Is Decided

The final order of merit depends only on marks scored in Stage-I, qualification in all parts of Stage-II and the number of vacancies. Assessment Test marks are not part of final merit and are used only to break ties. If two or more candidates have the same Stage-I marks, the older candidate ranks higher, and if the tie remains, the one with more Assessment Test marks ranks higher. Merit lists are zone wise and category wise for Navik (GD) male, and all India and category wise for the other posts.

Stage-III and Stage-IV

Candidates who qualify and stand in merit are shortlisted to report at INS Chilka, at their own expense, for Stage-III, which lasts 1 to 2 days. Stage-III is held separately for each post in the respective batch. It covers Aadhaar based identity verification (including a check of changes made in Aadhaar demographic details in the last two years), document verification, pre-enrolment medicals and submission of documents and police verification forms. Candidates without a verified police verification report, or with adverse comments in it, are not eligible for enrolment. Police verification must be obtained after the last date of application. Stage-IV is verification of the original educational and other documents with the concerned boards, universities or state authorities, and a candidate is terminated from service if documents are reported as not genuine.

Medical Standards

Medical examination is conducted by authorised Medical Officers of the Defence Forces. No waiver is given for the laid down medical standards, and the Indian Coast Guard order on medical standards is final. Candidates are advised to get ear wax cleaned and tartar removed from teeth before the examination.

  • Height: minimum 157 cm for men and 152 cm for women. This can be reduced by up to 5 cm for candidates with domicile of Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Garhwal, Kumaon and Sikkim, and for Gorkhas. It can be reduced by up to 2 cm for domicile of Ladakh, Lakshadweep and Minicoy Islands, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Claiming the relaxation requires a domicile certificate.
  • Chest: minimum 77 cm for men with at least 5 cm expansion; women need a well proportioned chest with minimum 5 cm expansion.
  • Weight: proportionate to height and age as applicable for the Coast Guard.
  • Hearing: able to hear a focused whisper from 6 metres with each ear separately.
  • Tattoos: permanent body tattoos are not permitted, with concessions for tribal communities declared by the Government of India. Others may have them only on the inner forearm (inside of elbow to wrist) and the back of the hand or palm.
  • Dental: healthy gums, a good set of teeth and a minimum of 14 dental points.
  • Pregnancy and gynaecological examination: a pregnant candidate is disqualified, and certain gynaecological findings lead to disqualification.
Branch Visual Standard
General Duty 6/6 in the better eye and 6/9 in the worse eye
Domestic Branch 6/36 in both eyes
Technical Branch (Yantrik) 6/24 in both eyes
Hygienist 6/60 in both eyes without glasses; 6/9 in the better eye and 6/24 in the worse eye with glasses

Candidates who use glasses are not eligible for the General Duty branch. Candidates declared unfit at Stage-II who wish to appeal are referred to a designated military hospital and must report within 14 days. The appeal medical is final, and a candidate cannot appeal again at the same or another hospital.
