Nationality
Candidates must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or specified East African countries with intention to permanently settle in India. - Degree must be from a university recognized by an Act of Parliament, or institutions under UGC Act 1956, IIT Act 1961, AICTE Act 1987, NITSER Act 2007, or IIIT Act 2024
- Candidates with engineering degrees from foreign universities are not eligible
- Final year students may apply, provided their results are declared before 01 January 2027
- Final year students whose results will be declared after 01 January 2027 are NOT eligible

Selection Process — Indian Army TGC-144
The selection procedure for Indian Army TGC 144 Recruitment 2026 is as follows:
- Application Submission — Online application at joinindianarmy.nic.in
- Shortlisting of Applications — Based on cumulative percentage of marks in engineering degree. Cut-off will be published in June 2026.
- SSB Centre and Date Selection — Shortlisted candidates select SSB centre and date on a first come first serve basis. SSB centres: Prayagraj (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bengaluru (Karnataka), Jalandhar (Punjab).
- SSB Interview (5 Days) — Two-stage process. Candidates failing Stage 1 are returned on the same day. Stage 2 is followed by Medical Examination.
- Medical Examination — As per Army Medical Standards available at joinindianarmy.nic.in. Medical validity is 270 days.
- Merit List — Prepared stream-wise on the basis of SSB marks. In case of equal SSB marks, older candidate gets priority. In case of same age too, candidate with higher degree percentage ranks higher.
- Joining Letter — Issued to medically fit candidates who fall within stream-wise vacancies in merit order.

Army Group Insurance Fund (AGIF)
- Gentleman Cadets are insured for Rs 1.25 crore

- For less than 20% disability: Ex-gratia grant of Rs 50,000
Training Details
- Pre-Commission Training Academy: Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun
- Duration: About 12 months (January 2027 to December 2027)
- Cost of Training: Entirely at Government expense
- Marriage During Training: Not permitted. If a candidate marries during training, he will be discharged and required to refund all expenses incurred by the Government.
- Arms/Services Allocation: Primary arms — Corps of Engineers, Corps of Signals, and Electronics and Mechanical Engineers. Final allocation is at the sole discretion of Integrated HQ of MoD (Army).
- Cost of Training (if withdrawn for personal reasons): Rs 16,260 per week (with 8% annual increment)
Travelling Allowance
Candidates appearing for SSB interview for the first time are entitled to AC-III Tier to and fro railway fare or bus fare (including reservation cum sleeper charges) within Indian limits. Candidates who have previously appeared for the same type of commission are not entitled to travelling allowance on subsequent occasions.

Candidates must carry self-attested copies along with original documents at the SSB Selection Centre:
