The Indian Air Force has invited unmarried Indian male and female candidates from all districts of all states and union territories to appear in a pre-registered recruitment rally for Agniveervayu (Musician) Intake 01/2027. There is no provision to change the examination centre or the date of the rally or medical examination once fixed, so candidates should plan their travel with enough buffer time, including for any delay in train schedules.
Application Fee
The application fee is 100 rupees plus 18 percent GST, and it is non-refundable under any circumstances. Payment can be made online through net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI once the application form is submitted. If a candidate makes multiple payments against a single application by mistake, the extra amount is refunded only after registration closes and payment records are reconciled.
Eligibility Criteria
Nationality and Marital Status
Only unmarried Indian male and female candidates from any district of any state or union territory can apply. Candidates must remain unmarried throughout the four-year engagement period, and marrying during this time will lead to dismissal from service. Female candidates must also undertake not to become pregnant during the engagement period, since pregnancy leading to a Low Medical Category will make them liable for dismissal and will bar them from selection into the regular cadre.
Age Limit
Candidates must be born between 1 January 2005 and 1 July 2009, both dates inclusive. If a candidate clears all stages of selection, the upper age limit as on the date of enrolment must not exceed 22 years.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed Matriculation or Class 10th, or its equivalent, with minimum pass marks from any Central, State, or Union Territory government recognised school or board, as on the date of registration.
Musical Proficiency
Candidates must be able to sing one complete song with accuracy in tempo and pitch, perform a preparatory tune, and read at least one notation system such as Staff, Tablature, Tonic Solfa, Hindustani, or Carnatic. They must also be able to tune instruments that require tuning and match unknown notes.
Candidates must have proficiency in playing at least one instrument from the two lists below, and proficiency in two instruments, one from each list, is desirable.

Musical Experience Certificate
Candidates need any one of the following: a Grade 5th or equivalent certificate from a recognised music institute such as TCL, RSM, KM Music Conservatory, Bangalore School of Music, TSM, GMI, or Berklee School of Music; a diploma or equivalent in Hindustani or Carnatic classical music from a recognised university; or a certificate of participation or award from a recognised event, applicable to candidates playing blowing instruments with staff notation.

Candidates must also meet standards for hearing, dental health, and general medical fitness. Permanent tattoos are allowed only on the inner forearm, reverse of the palm, or dorsal part of the hand, and offensive, obscene, or discriminatory tattoos anywhere on the body will lead to rejection. Candidates with a history of LASIK or PRK eye surgery will not be accepted, and detailed visual and medical standards are published on the official CASB portal.
Pay, Allowances, and Terminal Benefits
Selected candidates will receive an Agniveer package starting at 30,000 rupees per month in the first year, rising with a fixed yearly increment to 33,000 rupees in the second year, 36,500 rupees in the third year, and 40,000 rupees in the fourth year. In addition, Risk and Hardship, Dress, and Travel allowances apply, along with ration, clothing, accommodation, and Leave Travel Concession as per existing rules.
Of the monthly package, 70 percent is paid in hand while 30 percent is contributed to the Agniveer Corpus Fund, matched equally by the Government. On completion of four years, this builds up to an approximate Seva Nidhi package of 10.04 lakh rupees. Agniveervayu are also covered by a non-contributory life insurance of 48 lakh rupees during their engagement period, though they are not covered by the regular Pension Regulations and will not be entitled to gratuity or ESM status after discharge.
Selection Process
Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
PFT-I requires a 1.6 km run, which male candidates must complete within seven minutes and female candidates within eight minutes. Candidates who qualify PFT-I move to PFT-II after ten minutes of rest. Male candidates then attempt push-ups, sit-ups, and squats in timed stages, while female candidates attempt sit-ups and squats with separate time limits.
English Written Test
Candidates who qualify the PFT sit for an objective English written test of 30 minutes, comprising 30 questions based on the Matriculation or Class 10th CBSE syllabus. Each correct answer earns one mark, there is no negative marking, and candidates must qualify this paper to proceed further. Results are declared on the same day.
Music Proficiency Test (MPT)
Candidates who qualify the written test undergo a Music Proficiency Test, conducted individually or in a group, to assess their skill in playing musical instruments as declared at the time of registration.
Medical Examination
Candidates who clear the MPT are medically examined in September 2026 at 11 AFH Hindon and SMC, AF Station Jalahalli, as per Indian Air Force medical standards. The examination includes blood and urine tests, biochemistry profiles, a chest X-ray, an ECG, and an ultrasonography of the lower abdomen and pelvis for female candidates. Candidates declared unfit may appeal through an Appeal Medical Board by depositing 40 rupees and submitting the appeal within three working days of the medical examination.

How to Apply
Candidates can apply online only, following the two-step process described below. Application, once submitted, cannot be withdrawn, and the fee is non-refundable.
- Visit the official website and complete Step-I registration by entering your personal and contact details, then generate an OTP.
- Verify your mobile number and email ID separately using the OTPs sent to each, agree to the terms and conditions, re-verify your entered values, and submit the registration.
- Log in with the User ID and password sent to your email and mobile, then click Go To Application to move to Step-II of the form.
- Fill in your personal details, additional details, communication details, and qualification details, and complete the declaration section.
- Upload your photograph, signature, parent or guardian signature if you are below 18 years, and left thumb impression images in the specified size and format.
- Complete the live image capture using a web camera so that your uploaded photograph can be matched against your real-time photo.
- Preview the filled application, correct any errors, and then pay the application fee of 100 rupees plus 18 percent GST through the payment gateway.
- Print the submitted application form in PDF format and keep it safe for future reference and for the recruitment rally.
General Rules
Candidates should apply only once against this notification; multiple applications with different registration numbers will lead to rejection of candidature. Candidates must carry the last four digits of their Aadhaar number during registration, except those from Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Assam, and Meghalaya without an Aadhaar card, who may use another valid ID. Mobile phones and electronic devices are strictly prohibited in testing areas, and candidates found with such devices will be permanently debarred.
