About CTET – What Is the Central Teacher Eligibility Test?
CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) is a national-level teacher eligibility test conducted by CBSE. It is mandatory for candidates who want to teach in Central Government schools from Class I to Class VIII. These include Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVS), Tibetan Schools, and other Central Government-run schools.
- CTET is conducted in two papers:
- Paper-I: For candidates who wish to teach Classes I to V (Primary Stage)
- Paper-II: For candidates who wish to teach Classes VI to VIII (Elementary Stage)
- A candidate wishing to teach both levels must appear in both Paper-I and Paper-II.
- CTET Certificate is valid for lifetime (as per NCTE guidelines updated in 2021).

For Paper-I (Classes I to V – Primary Stage)
- Senior Secondary (Class XII) or equivalent with at least 50% marks AND 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) (final year candidates may also apply)
- OR Senior Secondary with at least 45% marks AND 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (as per NCTE norms)
- OR Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks AND 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)
- OR Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks AND 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)
- OR Graduation AND 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
For Paper-II (Classes VI to VIII – Elementary Stage)
- Graduation AND 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) (final year candidates may also apply)
- OR Graduation with at least 50% marks AND 1-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)
- OR Graduation with at least 45% marks AND 1-year B.Ed. (as per NCTE norms)

Exam Cities and Languages – CTET September 2026
- CTET September 2026 will be conducted in 132 cities across India.
- The exam will be available in 27 languages.
- There is no provision to select exam city in the online application portal.
- Exam city will be allotted by CBSE on a random basis.
- No request for change of allotted exam city will be entertained for any reason.

- Fill in the complete online application form with personal, educational, and other required details accurately.
- Upload your recent passport-size photograph and signature in the prescribed format and size as mentioned in the Information Bulletin.
