Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Constable (Driver): Minimum Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized Board/University + Heavy Transport Vehicle Driving License. Must pass the driving test at the time of recruitment.
  • Constable (Motor Mechanic Vehicle): Minimum Matriculation or 10th Class pass + 2-year ITI certificate in Mechanic Motor Vehicle from a recognized institution and 1-year practical experience, OR National/State apprenticeship certificate of 3-year duration and 1-year practical experience.
  • All Other Tradesmen (Cook, Tailor, Cobbler, Carpenter, etc.): Minimum Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized Board/University + must be proficient in the respective trade.
  • Constable (Pioneer — Mason/Electrician): Matriculation or equivalent + 1-year experience in respective trade. Preference given to ITI certificate holders.
  • Educational qualification must be acquired on or before 01 January 2026.

Age Limit (as on 01 January 2026)

  • Constable (Driver): 21 to 27 years. Born not earlier than 02/01/1999 and not later than 01/01/2005.
  • All Other Trades (Tradesmen & Pioneer): 18 to 23 years. Born not earlier than 02/01/2003 and not later than 01/01/2008.
  • SC/ST: 5 years upper age relaxation.
  • OBC: 3 years upper age relaxation.
  • Ex-Servicemen: 3 years after deduction of military service rendered from actual age.
  • Children/Dependents of 1984 riot victims (UR): 5 years relaxation.
  • Children/Dependents of 1984 riot victims (OBC): 8 years relaxation.
  • Children/Dependents of 1984 riot victims (SC/ST): 10 years relaxation.
  • Persons with Disabilities (PwD) are NOT eligible to apply.

Selection Process

  • Stage 1: Physical Efficiency Test (PET) — Race (qualifying in nature)
  • Stage 2: Physical Standard Test (PST) — Height, Chest, Weight measurement
  • Stage 3: Computer Based Test (CBT) — 100 marks, 100 questions, 2 hours
  • Stage 4: Trade / Skill Test — Practical assessment (qualifying, out of 50 marks, minimum 20 to qualify)
  • Stage 5: Document Verification (DV)
  • Stage 6: Detailed Medical Examination (DME) / Review Medical Examination (RME)

Final selection is based on normalized marks in the CBT, subject to qualifying all other stages. Biometric data (photograph + LTI) will be captured at recruitment stages.

Medical Standards

  • Candidates must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein, or squint in eyes.
  • Must be in good mental and physical health, fit for duty in high-altitude areas and border regions.
  • Temporary unfitness is not allowed during DME. Exception: Pregnant women candidates may be declared temporarily unfit and re-examined 6 weeks after confinement.
  • Candidates declared unfit in DME may request Review Medical Examination (RME) by giving written consent on the same day.
