Reservation Notes

  • Only Local Scheduled Tribe candidates covered under the A&N Islands Scheduled Tribe Order 1959 are eligible for ST quota. Other ST candidates will be considered under Unreserved vacancies only.
  • Only Local OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates with a valid OBC-NCL certificate not older than two years from the closing date are eligible for OBC quota.
  • EWS candidates must have certificates issued by the Revenue department, A&N Administration.
  • PwBD candidates must have at least 40% disability with a Disability Certificate from competent authority.

Exam Pattern - Andaman & Nicobar CHSL TBT Examination 2026

The Tier-I examination is a Tablet Based Test (TBT) with the following structure:

  • Each question carries 1 mark. Questions for subjects II, III, and IV will be in English and Hindi languages.
  • For Visually Handicapped (VH) candidates using Scribe (40%+ disability), there will be no component of Maps/Graphs/Diagrams/Statistical Data in General Intelligence/General Awareness and Quantitative Aptitude papers.

  • General Intelligence: Semantic Analogy, Symbolic operations, Number Analogy, Trends, Figural Analogy, Space Orientation, Venn Diagrams, Number Classification, Drawing inferences, Number Series, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Coding and de-coding, Numerical operations.
  • Quantitative Aptitude: Number Systems, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry, Mensuration, Trigonometry, Statistical Charts (Histogram, Bar-diagram, Pie-chart).
  • General Awareness: Current events, knowledge of India and neighboring countries especially History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General policy, and scientific research.

Selection Process

  • Tier-I: Tablet Based Test (TBT) - Online examination with 200 MCQs (200 marks) as described above.
  • Tier-II: Physical Standard Examination / Physical Measurement and Endurance / Skill / Trade Test - This is qualifying in nature only and will be conducted by the concerned Department for posts where it is prescribed as an essential qualification. Cut-offs may differ for each post.
  • Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must upload original certificates/testimonials on the official website on a scheduled date for online verification.
  • Final Merit List: Prepared based on TBT performance and post preferences. Candidates are selected based on merit in TBT, subject to qualifying Tier-II where applicable.

Tie-Breaking Rules

  • Date of birth - the older candidate gets preference.
  • If still tied, alphabetical order of names (first name) is used.

General Rules and Important Instructions

  • Candidates can apply for one or more posts in order of preference. Apply using the appropriate post-specific link on the portal.

  • For Scribe facility: VH candidates with 40%+ visual disability whose writing speed is affected by Cerebral Palsy/Muscular Dystrophy/Locomotor Disability (One Arm)/Intellectual Disability can avail Scribe. Scribe must be arranged by the candidate independently and a separate e-Admit Card will be issued to the Scribe. Candidates with Scribe get 20 extra minutes for every hour of TBT examination.
