Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
The essential qualification for each post depends on the department and the level of post applied for. Below is a general overview:
For Assistant Professor
- A medical qualification as per Schedule I and II or Part II of the third Schedule of the Indian Medical Council Act 1956.
- A postgraduate degree (MD/MS/DM/M.Ch.) in the relevant specialty from a recognized institution.
- Teaching and/or research experience as specified for each department (generally 1 to 3 years after the qualifying postgraduate degree).
- For non-medical candidates (applicable to certain departments like Anatomy, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Physiology): Master's Degree in the relevant subject and a Doctorate degree from a recognized university, along with 3 years of teaching/research experience after the doctorate.
For Professor (Medical Candidates)
- 14 years teaching/research experience after MD/MS from a recognized institution, OR
- 12 years experience after DM/M.Ch. (2 or 5 year course after MBBS), OR
- 11 years experience for candidates with 3-year DM/M.Ch. degree.
For Professor (Non-Medical Candidates)
- 14 years teaching/research experience after the Doctorate degree.
For Additional Professor (Medical Candidates)
- General Discipline: 10 years experience after MD/MS.
- Super Specialty: 8 years after DM/M.Ch. (2 or 5 year), OR 7 years for 3-year DM/M.Ch.
- Non-Medical: 10 years after doctorate.
For Associate Professor (Medical Candidates)
- General Discipline: 6 years experience after MD/MS.
- Super Specialty: 4 years after DM/M.Ch. (2 or 5 year), OR 3 years for 3-year DM/M.Ch.

All posts carry the usual allowances as admissible to Central Government employees. NPA (Non-Practicing Allowance) is also admissible for medical candidates.
Selection Process
The selection for AIIMS Patna Faculty Posts 2026 will be done in two stages:
Stage 1: Objective Screening
Applications will first be checked for initial eligibility (age, qualification, experience). If more than 10 candidates are found eligible for a post, an objective scoring system will be applied. The total screening score is 75 marks, divided as follows:
- Section I - Academic and Professional Achievements: Maximum 10 marks (includes NTSC scholarship, international fellowships, rural service, BCLS/NELS/ACLS courses)
- Section II - Research and Publications: Maximum 35 marks (includes original research articles, thesis, published abstracts, book chapters, funded projects, patents)
- Section III - Teaching and Presentations: Maximum 30 marks (includes national/international conference presentations, medical education courses, CISP, AETCOM module, international fellowship duration)
Top 10 scorers per post will be shortlisted for interview. Screening scores are not considered for final selection.
Stage 2: Interview
The interview will be held at AIIMS Patna. Final selection is based purely on interview performance. The decision of the selection committee will be final and binding.
