How This Rolling Advertisement Works

This is not a one-time notice. The 9th rolling advertisement opened on 29 April 2026 and stays alive across several cut-off dates. As posts get filled, the institute updates the list on its website, so candidates can apply before whichever cut-off date suits them. If you miss Phase 2, the same advertisement continues with later phases.

The institute has also said the advertisement can be used to fill unfilled posts for at least one year, until a notice of closure. Candidates who do not meet the eligibility today but may do so within the next year are advised to keep watching the website, although this applies only if posts remain unfilled and the competent authority decides to publish only a vacancy notice.

Vacancy Details

The Phase 2 advertisement lists posts across 41 department entries for medical faculty, plus the College of Nursing. The institute has stated that the vacancies are provisional and that the Executive Director may change, abolish or increase them, including reserved vacancies.

A 4 percent horizontal reservation for persons with disabilities applies as per Government rules. Among departments, General Medicine and Radiodiagnosis have the highest count with 7 posts each, followed by Medical Oncology/Hematology with 4. The full department-wise grid is given in the official PDF.

Nursing Faculty Post

The College of Nursing at AIIMS Deoghar has 1 post of Associate Professor (Reader) in the unreserved category.

Downgradable Posts and Lower Cadre Filling

Some Additional Professor and Associate Professor posts are marked with an asterisk, which means they may be downgraded to Associate Professor or Assistant Professor in the same category. The notice also says that if no suitable candidate is found for a higher post, a lower cadre candidate in the same category may fill it. In that case the selected person joins the lower post and not the advertised one. This is why candidates eligible only for a lower cadre are allowed to apply in departments where a higher post is advertised.

Rule for Non-EWS Candidates Applying to EWS Posts

  • Their candidature is considered only if no suitable EWS applicant is available.
  • They are treated as unreserved, so reserved category relaxations do not apply.
  • The unreserved fee of Rs 3000 applies and is not refunded under any circumstances.

Eligibility Criteria

Only teaching or research experience from a recognized medical college counts for medical posts. Experience from physiotherapy, homeopathic, ayurvedic or nursing colleges is not accepted. Interviews are open to Indian nationals and persons registered as Overseas Citizen of India cardholders under Section 7A of the Citizenship Act, 1955.

Qualification for Medical Candidates

For broad specialty posts, a candidate needs a medical qualification listed in the First or Second Schedule, or Part II of the Third Schedule, of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956, plus an MD, MS or equivalent postgraduate degree in the concerned subject. Super specialty posts need an M.Ch for surgical branches or a DM for medical branches, or an equivalent qualification. Dentistry candidates need a qualification under the Dentists Act, 1948 and an MDS. Non-medical candidates need a Master's degree in the concerned specialty and a doctorate from a recognized university; for anatomy, biochemistry, physiology, pharmacology and microbiology, the M.Sc must be in the medical version of the subject.

Experience Required After the Qualifying Degree

Professor 14 years 12 years 11 years
Additional Professor 10 years 8 years 7 years

Special Department Conditions

  • Transfusion Medicine: MD or DNB in Transfusion Medicine or Blood Banking, with the same experience years as broad specialties.
  • Hospital Administration: MD in Hospital Administration or a Master's in Hospital Administration, with 6 years of experience for Associate Professor and 3 years for Assistant Professor.

Nursing Faculty Qualification

For Associate Professor (Reader) in the College of Nursing, a Master's degree in Nursing from a recognized institution and registration as a Registered Nurse Midwife are essential. The candidate needs 8 years of experience after M.Sc (Nursing), including 5 years of teaching experience, and the maximum permissible age is 50 years. A PhD in Nursing is desirable. Only experience from an INC recognized medical or nursing college is counted.

DNB Candidates

Those holding a DNB in broad specialties must produce documentary evidence of equivalence with MD, MS, DM or M.Ch as per the MCI notification dated 31 October 2018. Depending on the institution where DNB training was done, some candidates need no extra experience, while others need 1 or 2 extra years. A certificate of bed strength of the hospital where DNB was pursued must also be submitted.
