Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • For Graduate Apprenticeship: Candidate must hold a 4-year or 3-year degree in the relevant engineering or general stream from a government-recognized institution.
  • For Technician Apprenticeship: Candidate must hold a 3-year Diploma in the relevant branch of engineering or equivalent qualification from a government-recognized institution.
  • Graduate Engineers and Diploma Engineers (Diploma duration can be 3 years after Class 10th or 2 years after 12th, subject to lateral entry conditions). One-year Diploma is not allowed.
  • Only regular (full-time) mode of education is accepted. Distance or part-time courses are not eligible.
  • Degree/Diploma passing date should not be more than 5 years before the date of joining as apprentice.

Other Eligibility Conditions

  • Candidate must be registered on the NATS 2.0 Portal (https://nats.education.gov.in).
  • Candidate should not have undergone apprenticeship training in any other institution earlier.
  • Candidate should not have completed employment or service at any establishment for one year or more.
  • Candidate should not be pursuing or have completed Post Graduate qualification.
  • Candidate must have completed the online application through SECL website before the last date.

Selection Process – SECL Apprentice 2026

There is no written exam or interview for SECL Apprentice 2026. Selection is purely based on merit and document verification.

  • Merit Basis: Shortlisting is based on the date of passing degree or diploma in engineering or general stream. Candidates who passed earlier are ranked higher.
  • Tie-Breaking: In case of same passing date within same category — 1st tie-breaker is percentage of marks in Degree/Diploma; 2nd is percentage in 12th (for Degree) or 10th (for Diploma); 3rd is date of birth.
  • Seniority Lists: Two lists are prepared — Level-1 (candidates from Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh) and Level-2 (candidates from other states). Level-2 candidates get opportunity only after Level-1 list is exhausted.
  • Provisional Selection List: Will be uploaded on the SECL website tentatively in the 2nd week of April 2026.
  • Document Verification: Provisionally selected candidates must appear for document verification from 20 April 2026 onwards.
  • Medical Examination: Candidates must be declared medically fit as per Mines Rules 1955 (for mine-posted apprentices) or Apprenticeship Rules 1992 (for general stream). Medical fitness certificate must be obtained from a government hospital doctor not below the rank of Assistant Civil Surgeon.

The Government's share of the stipend is paid through DBT (Direct Beneficiary Transfer) to the Aadhaar-seeded bank account of the apprentice. Government share shall be continued at old rates of stipend as per Board of Apprenticeship Training (Western Region) directives until further notice.

Document Verification – Required Documents

Candidates must bring the following original documents along with one set of self-attested photocopies:

  • Print out of submitted online application
  • NATS Registration Document (profile and status)
  • Medical Fitness Certificate (as per applicable format)
  • Notarized Affidavit (in prescribed format)
  • Degree/Diploma Marksheet and Certificate
  • SSC/HSC Marksheet and Certificate
  • Aadhaar Card and Aadhaar-linked Bank Account details
  • Date of Birth Certificate
  • Caste Certificate for OBC, SC, ST (OBC certificate must be dated on or after 01 April 2025)
  • Domicile Certificate for Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh candidates
  • Four passport size photographs
  • Notarized Affidavit in prescribed format
  • Print out of provisional selection list showing candidate's name

Important Note: OBC certificate issued before 01 April 2025 will NOT be accepted. Names and date of birth must match across all certificates. In case of discrepancy, a notarized affidavit is required.

Posting Location

  • Mining and Mine Surveying apprentices will be posted only in the underground mines of SECL.
  • Other engineering apprentices will be posted in opencast mines, underground mines, workshops, and establishments of SECL.
  • General Stream Graduate Apprentices (BBA, BCA, B.Com, B.Sc.) will be posted in offices and establishments in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

Important Rules and Conditions

  • No apprentice will be absorbed or offered employment in SECL on the basis of apprenticeship training.
  • No TA/DA will be provided for document verification, medical examination, or attending training.
  • No accommodation or housing facility will be provided by SECL.
  • SECL management may increase, decrease, or cancel seats without prior notice.
  • All disputes will be settled under jurisdiction of Bilaspur Court only.
  • Applications received after the last date or sent by post or email will not be considered.
  • Candidates are advised to fill the registration and application form themselves carefully as no changes will be entertained later.

How to Apply for SECL Apprentice 2026

Follow these step-by-step instructions carefully to complete your online application:

  1. First, register on the NATS 2.0 Portal at https://nats.education.gov.in or https://moenats.aicte-india.org/student_register.php. This registration is mandatory before applying on the SECL portal.
  2. Visit the SECL Apprenticeship Portal at https://apprenticeship.secl-cil.in/login.php and click on "New User - Register Here!" to create your account.
  3. Fill in the Registration Form with all mandatory details including Full Name (as per NATS, Degree/Diploma Certificate, and Aadhaar Card), Father's Name, Application Type, Field of Specialisation, Gender, Community, State/UT of Domicile, Date of Birth, Aadhaar Number, Mobile Number, Email Address, and desired Password. Click Submit to get your Registration Number.
  4. Login to the SECL Apprenticeship Portal using your registered Email ID and Password. Fill Part I: Basic Information (Communication and Permanent Address). Click "Save Details" then "Next".
  5. Fill Part II: Educational Details. Enter your Date of Passing (not earlier than 1st April 2021), Institution Name, Enrollment Number, Percentage in qualifying exam, and Percentage in SSC/HSC. Upload SSC Certificate, Degree/Diploma Certificate, and NATS Registration Document (all PDF, less than 1MB each). Enter your NATS ID and NATS Registration Date. Click "Save Details" then "Next".
  6. Fill Part III: Upload your Photograph and Signature (JPG/PNG, 200x230 pixels, less than 500KB each) and Aadhaar Card (PDF, less than 1MB). Click "Save Details" then "Next".
  7. Fill Part IV: Bank Details. Enter your Bank Name, Branch Name, Aadhaar-linked Account Number (as mentioned in NATS), IFSC Code, Account Holder's Name, and upload the first page of your Passbook (PDF, less than 1MB). Tick the Terms and Conditions checkbox and click "Final Submit".
  8. After final submission, a confirmation message will appear. Click OK and save or print the PDF of your submitted application for future reference. The last date is 31 March 2026 till 12:00 Midnight.
