Educational Qualification
- Must have passed 10th Class / SSC with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognized Board.
- Must hold an ITI certificate in the relevant trade from an institute recognized by NCVT or SCVT.
- Qualifications must be held as of the date of submitting the online application.
- Engineering graduates and diploma holders are not eligible to apply under this notification.

Selection Process
- Selection is merit-based only. There is no written test or viva-voce.
- A merit list is prepared by calculating the average of the percentage marks in 10th Class/Matriculation (minimum 50%) and the ITI examination, with equal weightage to both.
- If two candidates have the same marks, the older candidate gets priority. If date of birth is also the same, the candidate who passed Matriculation earlier is preferred.
- Allocation to Railway Establishments is based on merit and the options submitted by the candidate during the online application.
- Final selection is subject to document verification and production of a Medical Fitness Certificate at the time of DV.
Training Period and Stipend
- Training Duration: As per the standards and syllabus prescribed by the Central Apprenticeship Council under the Apprentices Act, 1961
- Stipend: Paid at prescribed rates as per extant Railway Board instructions during the apprenticeship period
- No Guarantee of Employment: Railways are not obligated to offer regular employment after completion of training. Candidates have no prescriptive right to absorption in Railway service.
- Refund Clause: If an apprentice discontinues training without valid reasons, they must refund the stipend received and the cost of training as determined by the Railway Administration.
Medical Fitness Standards
Shortlisted candidates must produce a Medical Certificate signed by a Government-authorized Gazetted Doctor, not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon of a Central or State Hospital, at the time of document verification.
- Height: Minimum 137 cm
- Weight: Minimum 25.4 kg
- Chest Expansion: Not less than 5 cm
- Eyes: Minimum visual acuity 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses; binocular vision and colour vision required
- Ears: Good hearing, no suppurative disease, no hearing aid permitted
- Blood Pressure: Not to exceed 85 diastolic and 140 systolic
- Candidate must be free from contagious or infectious diseases, tuberculosis (active or healed), skin disorders, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory system diseases

How to Apply Online for RRC SCR Apprentice 2026
- Visit the official South Central Railway website at www.scr.indianrailways.gov.in and go to About Us then RRC-SCR section.
- Click on the ONLINE ACT APPRENTICE APPLICATION link and read all instructions carefully. Download the detailed notification.
- Complete RDAT registration on the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme website at www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in and obtain a Registration Number.
- Click the registration link, select your State and District, upload address proof, enter a valid mobile number and email ID, and create a password. Submit OTPs sent to your mobile and email.
- Fill in all personal details such as community, date of birth, candidate name, father name, and educational and technical qualification details carefully.
- Choose your priority and preference for Railway Establishments of South Central Railway for training. Options selected are final and cannot be changed later.
- Upload a recent colour photograph (JPEG, 100 DPI, max 1 MB, not older than 3 months), specimen signature, required educational certificates, and RDAT registration form in PDF format (max 2 MB).
- Click Preview to verify all entered details. Then click the Submit button for final submission. Pay the application fee of Rs 100 online through Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI. SC/ST/Female/Transgender/PwBD candidates are exempted.
- Download or take a printout of the submitted application form and e-receipt for future reference.
Important: Candidates with two different ITI trade qualifications can submit a separate application for each trade. Once submitted, the application cannot be modified.
