Eligibility Criteria

Before proceeding with the Registration, ensure you meet the following Eligibility Criteria specified by the Western Railway.

Age Limit (As of 23/03/2026)

  • Minimum Age: 15 years completed
  • Maximum Age: 24 years
  • Age Relaxation:
    • SC/ST Candidates: 5 years
    • OBC Candidates: 3 years
    • Persons with Disabilities (PWD): 10 years

Educational Qualification

Applicants must possess the following qualifications from recognized boards/institutes:

  • Matriculation: Passed 10th class examination or its equivalent (under 10+2 examination system) with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
  • Technical Qualification: ITI certificate in the relevant trade affiliated with NCVT/SCVT is mandatory.

Selection Process & Merit List

The selection for RRC WR Apprentice is 100% merit-based. There is no written exam, physical test, or interview.

How Merit is Calculated:

Merit Formula:

Merit = (10th % + ITI %) ÷ 2

Example:
10th Marks: 65%
ITI Marks: 75%
Merit Score = (65 + 75) / 2 = 70%

Tie-Breaking Rules:

  • If two candidates have the same merit percentage, the older candidate will be preferred
  • If dates of birth are also same, the candidate who passed matriculation earlier will be given preference

Document Verification:

Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification and medical fitness examination.

Medical Standards

Candidates must be medically fit to perform duties of the trade. A medical certificate in prescribed format, signed by a Government Authorized Doctor (Gazetted) not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon of Central/State Hospital, is required.
