Special Rules for ESM and Sports Categories

• ESM vacancy is filled first from ESM Self candidates. If no ESM Self candidate is available, it is filled from ESM Dependent candidates.
• If neither ESM Self nor ESM Dependent is available, the vacancy may be filled by a grandchild of a Gallantry Award Winner as per Punjab Govt. Notification dated 08.05.2020.
• For Group-B Sports category (as per Punjab Recruitment of Sportsmen Rules 1988, amended 20.07.2020), the candidate must:
  • Belong to the State of Punjab; and
  • Have won Gold, Silver or Bronze Medal in Senior National Championship or National Games while representing the State of Punjab, in events conducted by National Sports Federations affiliated/recognized by the Indian Olympic Association; OR
  • Have won first, second or third position in team or individual events or Gold, Silver or Bronze Medal at International Sports meets conducted by Sports Federations affiliated/recognized by the International Olympic Committee.

Eligibility Criteria — PSSSB Senior Assistant Recruitment 2026

Educational Qualification

• Must hold a Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University or institution.
• Must qualify in the competitive test specified by the appointing authority from time to time.
• Must possess at least 120 hours computer course with hands-on experience in Personal Computers or IT in Office Productivity or Desktop Publishing Applications from a Government recognized institution or a reputed institution that is ISO 9001 certified.
• OR must have passed a Computer IT course equivalent to the 'O' Level certificate of DOEACC of the Government of India.
• Must have passed Matriculation (10th standard) with Punjabi as a compulsory or elective subject as per Punjab Civil Services (General and Common Conditions of Service) Rules, 1994, Rule 17.
• The person appointed as Senior Assistant must have, before appointment, qualified a test in English and Punjabi typewriting on computer conducted by the Board or the appointing authority.
• All educational qualifications must be completed before the last date of application i.e. 28 March 2026, as per Punjab Govt. Notification G.S.R.7/Const./Art.309/Amd.(23)/2026 dated 21.01.2026.

Selection Process — PSSSB Senior Assistant Syllabus and Exam Pattern 2026

The selection for PSSSB Senior Assistant Recruitment 2026 is done in three stages:

Stage 2 — Typing Test

• Typing test in both English and Punjabi at 30 words per minute (WPM).
• Both tests are conducted on a computer.
• Punjabi typing test uses Unicode Compliant Font Raavi.
• Both English and Punjabi typing tests are qualifying in nature only — they do not contribute to merit score, but passing both is mandatory.
• Number of candidates called for the typing test will be decided by PSSSB or its competent authority.

Stage 3 — Counselling and Document Verification

• Candidates shortlisted after the typing test are called for counselling and full document verification.
• Common Merit List is prepared from written exam marks of candidates who passed the typing test.
• Candidates fully found eligible during counselling are recommended to the concerned department as per the merit list.
• If any document is found incorrect at any recruitment stage, the candidate's name is removed from the merit list and candidature is cancelled. Legal action may also be initiated.

Tie-Breaking Rule (When Two or More Candidates Have Equal Written Exam Marks)

• First: Older candidate by date of birth gets preference.
• Second: If date of birth is also equal, candidate with higher percentage in required educational qualification gets preference.
• Third: If still equal, candidate with higher Matriculation marks gets preference.
• Decision of PSSSB in all tie-breaking matters is final and binding on all candidates.

How to Apply Online — PSSSB Senior Assistant Recruitment 2026

The application process is completely online only. No offline or other mode of application is accepted. Candidates are strongly advised to apply themselves.

1. Step 1: Visit the official PSSSB website at https://sssb.punjab.gov.in and click on the Apply Online link.
2. Step 2: If you do not have a Login/User ID, click on Registration, fill in your details and generate your User ID (which will be your Email ID) and Password. Save them for future use.
