Eligibility Criteria - Powergrid Apprentice Recruitment 2026

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 18 years at the time of application.
  • No upper age limit is mentioned in the official notifications for any region.

Who Is Eligible

  • Must be an Indian citizen.
  • Must hold the required full-time regular degree/diploma/ITI qualification from a recognized institute/university.
  • Must have passed the final examination within two years of the closing date, i.e., result declared between 12-03-2024 and 11-03-2026.

Important Qualification Notes

  • The date of result declaration must be clearly mentioned in the mark sheet. If not, a supporting document from the college/university is mandatory.
  • Percentage of marks must appear in the final/consolidated mark sheet. If not available, a Percentage Conversion Letter from the institute/university must be uploaded.
  • The required specialization must be mentioned in the degree/diploma certificate. If not, a certificate from the institute/university confirming the specialization is required.

Selection Process - Powergrid Apprentice 2026

There is no written examination and no interview. Selection is merit-based only:

  • Applications are screened in merit order based on marks in the final qualifying examination for the respective trade.
  • Shortlisted candidates are called for document verification in a ratio of 1:5 against available training slots. Communication is via registered email only.
  • No TA/DA is paid for the document verification process.
  • A merit list is prepared from candidates who appear for document verification and are found suitable.
  • Final engagement is done in merit order after accepting the tri-partite apprenticeship contract on NATS/NAPS and submitting a medical certificate and police verification.

  1. For ITI Electrician, HR Executive, CSR Executive, Rajbhasha Assistant, and similar trades, register on the NAPS portal at https://apprenticeshipindia.gov.in. For Degree/Diploma in Engineering trades, register on the NATS portal at https://nats.education.gov.in/.
  2. Complete and update your profile on the NAPS/NATS portal by uploading all required documents including educational certificates, mark sheets, proof of age, caste certificate (if applicable), and DBT-enabled Aadhaar-seeded bank account details.
  3. Note your NAPS/NATS Registration/Enrolment Number after successful registration.

Key Rules and Conditions for Apprenticeship Training

  • Duration: One year from the date of joining. No extension is permitted.
  • Stipend: Paid monthly subject to satisfactory performance and attendance.
  • Leaves (SR-II and WR-II): Apprentices are entitled to 12 days of Casual Leave (pro-rata) and 15 days of Medical Leave during the one-year tenure. Prior sanction from the reporting officer is required for leave.
