The Bihar ITICAT 2026 is a state-level competitive entrance exam conducted by the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board under the Government of Bihar. Eligibility Criteria - ITICAT 2026
Educational Qualification
- Candidates must have passed Matric (Class 10) or equivalent exam conducted by Bihar School Examination Board or CBSE with Mathematics and Science.
- Candidates appearing in Matric 2026 exam can also apply, but must obtain pass certificate before the date of counselling.
- For ITI sector trades (Science stream): passing Matric with Science subjects is mandatory.
- For non-engineering trades: only Matric pass is required.
Residential Eligibility
Only Indian citizens can apply. At least one of the following residential criteria must be fulfilled:
- Parent or spouse is a permanent or original resident of Bihar.
- Parent or spouse is a registered refugee (Refugee) in Bihar.
- Parent or spouse is an employee of Bihar Government.
- Parent or spouse is an employee of Central Government posted in Bihar or an employee of a Central PSU posted in Bihar.
- Parent or spouse is an employee of the United Nations posted in Bihar.
- For a married woman, her husband's residential proof of Bihar will be considered.

Selected candidates will undergo a medical examination. Admission will be confirmed only if the candidate is found medically fit by a qualified medical officer.
Reservation Policy - Bihar ITICAT 2026
The reservation follows Bihar Government rules as applicable at the time of online registration start date. Category-wise reservation percentages are as follows:

Note: The total seats are divided into two independent pools. 75% seats (21,828) are District-level seats linked to the candidate's residential district. 25% seats (7,276) are Open (State-level) seats available to eligible candidates from all districts of Bihar. The grand total across General ITIs is 29,104 seats, plus 4,004 seats in Women ITIs, making the overall total 33,108 seats.
A special Servicemen's Quota (SMQ) of 5% is available in each institution for wards of ex-servicemen and serving defence personnel of Bihar. Additionally, 5% seats are reserved for Disabled (Divyang) candidates across all institutions. A Land Donor Quota (LDQ) of one seat per trade is also available at ITI Marhowrah.
Exam Pattern - Bihar ITICAT 2026
The ITICAT 2026 exam is a single objective-type written examination. The question paper will be in both Hindi and English. Candidates must fill answers on an OMR Answer Sheet.

Merit List - ITICAT 2026 Selection Process
A separate merit list will be prepared for each district based on total marks obtained in the entrance exam. In case two or more candidates have equal total marks, the following tiebreaker order applies:
- Candidate with higher marks in Mathematics section gets priority.
- If still equal, candidate with higher marks in General Science gets priority.
- If still equal, the older candidate (earlier date of birth) gets priority.
A separate merit list will also be prepared for all Women ITIs (WITIs) at the state level for all eligible female candidates.
After the main exam results, counselling will be done in two rounds: Online Counselling and Mop-up Counselling. If seats remain vacant after Mop-up Counselling in government ITIs, Spot Round Counselling may be conducted at the institution level.
Admit Card - Bihar ITICAT 2026
The Online Admit Card for Bihar ITICAT 2026 will be available for download from 08 May 2026 on the official website bceceboard.bihar.gov.in.
To download the Admit Card, candidates can either:
- Visit the website, click on "Download Admit Card of ITICAT-2026" link, enter Registration Number and date of birth, and click Submit.
- Or login with Registration Number and Password, then click Download Admit Card.
Important: If any error is found on the Admit Card, candidates must contact the BCECE Board office at least 5 working days before the exam (between 11 AM and 3 PM). No correction will be done after the exam date. Candidates must sign the admit card at the examination centre in front of the invigilator.

How to Apply for Bihar ITICAT 2026 - Step-by-Step
- Step 1 - Registration: Visit the official website bceceboard.bihar.gov.in. Click on the "Online Portal of I.T.I.C.A.T.-2026" link and then click "New Registration". Enter your correct email ID and mobile number. A verification code will be sent to both. Complete registration to get your Registration Number.
- Step 2 - Fill Application Form: Login with your Registration Number and Password. Fill Personal Information, Contact Details, and Educational Information carefully in the multi-step form. Click Save and Continue after each section.
- Step 3 - Upload Photo and Signature: Upload a recent colour passport-size photo (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm) taken after 01 January 2026 with your name and date written on a placard. Also upload your Hindi and English signatures as instructed.
- Step 4 - Preview and Final Submit: Review all information carefully in the preview section. Accept the declaration and click "Final Submit and Proceed to Payment". Note: After final submission, no changes are allowed.
